Description
I found this flower lurking behind the birdbath in my garden. A bright and cheerful yellow wildflower set against a beautiful summer sky.
Goldenrods are a hardy perennial found in meadows, pastures, along the road, in ditches and even waste areas. They come from a genus of about 100species of flowering plants. Goldenrods can be used for decoration and parts of the plant are edible. They can also be used to make tea. Although they are considered weeds in North America, European gardeners prize the hardy plants. They are an attractive source of nectar for insects. Goldenrods are also held as a sign of good luck or good fortune by many.
