Description
A pair of male red-winged blackbirds perched inside a tangle of tree branches. The gnarled branches of the tree twisted around the birds like a natural birdcage. The male and female of this species is vastly different in color. The male has all black feathers with a bright splash of red and yellow on the wings, while the female is all brown. The red-winged blackbird is said to be the most abundant land bird in North America. They are migratory birds, eat a diet of seeds and insects and love to perch on telephone wires.
