This beautiful Purple Spotted Swallowtail butterfly was created entirely out of cut and torn paper. The second in an ongoing series of miniature collages featuring butterflies from around the world. The Purple Spotted Swallowtail is found only in the highlands of New Guinea and is a member of the swallowtail family. It features mostly black wings with spots of blue, white, green and purple. They live in in high elevations of 4,500 to 8,000 ft. No paint was used in the creation of this collage, only forgotten magazines, my trusty hole punches, scissors and patience.
I come from a creative family who loved art, music, photography and sometimes random hiking adventures. I am thankful to them for giving me the gift of curiosity, creativity and a love of the natural world. I incorporate all of these aspects into my work and enjoy working with a variety of mediums. I also enjoy making detailed collages using recycled materials, in this way I can do my part to help the environment and create something beautiful. Thank you for visiting!
