The beautiful Monarch butterfly created entirely out of cut and torn paper. The first in an ongoing series of miniature collages featuring butterflies from around the world. The Monarch is one of my favorites and there was no question of which butterfly I would start this series off with. This iconic orange and black butterfly is a very familiar sight during the warm seasons in Ohio. In the fall it will travel thousands of miles to overwinter in Mexico. No paint was used in the creation of this collage, only forgotten magazines, my trusty hole punches and scissors and patience.

I come from a creative family who loved art, music, photography and sometimes random hiking adventures. I am thankful to them for giving me the gift of curiosity, creativity and a love of the natural world. I incorporate all of these aspects into my work and enjoy working with a variety of mediums. I also enjoy making detailed collages using recycled materials, in this way I can do my part to help the environment and create something beautiful. Thank you for visiting!
