Description
As an Ohioan, I have a special fondness for the cardinal. They were declared our official state bird in 1933 and can be found in all 88 counties throughout the year. I see them while out on nature walks or even just in my own backyard, easily spotted by their crimson red plumage and their distinctive birdsong. This cardinal, perched atop sparse branches and beautifully contrasted by the light blue sky, is a regular resident in my neighborhood. I hear him singing every morning and watch him fly from our antenna to the tree and back again, moving too fast for my camera, but not this time.
