The Matriarch is a an older woman who is the head of a family or tribe. A wise and powerful figure who keeps a family strong and united in the best and worst of times. That was the inspiration for this collage. She represents the essence of a strong female figure. This collage was created using only recycled paper from magazines. Each piece is hand cut or torn and applied to canvas with gel medium. I like to call it artistic recycling.

I come from a creative family who loved art, music, photography and sometimes random hiking adventures. I am thankful to them for giving me the gift of curiosity, creativity and a love of the natural world. I incorporate all of these aspects into my work and enjoy working with a variety of mediums. I also enjoy making detailed collages using recycled materials, in this way I can do my part to help the environment and create something beautiful. Thank you for visiting!
