Description
The purple cone flower or Echinacea purpurea is a popular flowering perennial in the Aster family. It has a distinctive spiky brown center surrounded by pink or purple daisy like petals. In this image however, I've used an infrared effect to give the flowers a dramatic black and white dreamlike feel. The scientific name for cone flowers "Echinacea" is derived from the Greek word echino meaning hedgehog. The center of the cone flower certainly is reminiscent of a hedgehog.
