Description
I nicknamed these delicate little flowers "Fairy Cotton" but they are a little more sinister than that name would suggest. These fluffy little flowers have quite a wide variety of names around the world. More common ones are the Canadian Thistle, field thistle and prickly thistle but there are more creative names as well. Some of the more fun ones are: cursed thistle, creeping thistle, stinger needles and my personal favorite, "lettuce from hell". The plant is an aggressively invasive species and "injurious weed" that causes many gardeners and farmers endless problems but in this image they are harmless and quite pretty.
