The Eastern Black Kingsnake resting comfortably on his tree branches at the Cleveland Metropark Zoo. The Eastern Black Kingsnake or Lampropeltis getula is a harmless species found throughout North America and Mexico. It can grow anywhere from 20-78 inches in length and is a popular snake amongst collectors. They do very well in captivity and will easily live 25 years or more.
