An original colored pencil drawing of the barrier beach at old Woman Creek in Huron, OH. This natural section of coastline is covered with natural debris such as plants driftwood and lotus seed pods. The beach forms a natural barrier between the water of Lake Erie and the creek.
Old Woman Creek Reserve in Huron Ohio, where the waters of Lake Erie meet and mix with the creek. This forms a chemically different type of water. This is also the only Great Lakes-type freshwater estuary in the National Estuarine Research reserve system. The estuary is home to many different types of mammals, reptiles, fish, amphibians, insects and is home to The American Bald Eagle. The estuary is also used as a field laboratory for scientists and students to study this unique natural setting. This particular location is a part of a naturally occurring barrier sand beach. This beach is a protected area and does not allow recreational activities such as swimming, camping and picnicking.
I come from a creative family who loved art, music, photography and sometimes random hiking adventures. I am thankful to them for giving me the gift of curiosity, creativity and a love of the natural world. I incorporate all of these aspects into my work and enjoy working with a variety of mediums. I also enjoy making detailed collages using recycled materials, in this way I can do my part to help the environment and create something beautiful. Thank you for visiting!
