The Wattled Jacana wading through the water of it's peaceful habitat at the Cleveland Metropark Zoo. The Wattled Jacana is an unusual looking wetland bird native to South America. It has very large feet with long claws that it uses to walk on floating vegetation in shallow lakes. The female Jacanca is polyandrous and will have nests with up to four mates which they defend from predators. These nests are watched over by the males who are solely responsible for the incubation.
Quite a liberal species of bird.
