Description
A sumac tree in colorful transition. The Sumac is a subtropical shrub or tree that can often be mistaken for the "Tree of Heaven", an undesirable invasive species. It is found in subtropical and temperate regions throughout the world, even here in northern Ohio. In the fall the leaves turn a vibrant crimson red and the plant produces a cluster of equally vibrant red flowers. I photographed this sumac in the late summer before it's leaves had fully turned. The changing colors of the foliage was quite beautiful to see.
