Description
Tiny white and purple flowers with lavender and tuquoise foliage. A wildly manipulated photograph of Chionodoxa or Glory of the Snow.
Glory of the Snow, or chionodoxa is a small star shaped flower that blooms in very early spring. It got it's name Glory of the Snow because it blooms early enough that it can be found poking through the snow. These delightful blooms require nearly no care at all. They will grow in rock gardens, under shrubs and deciduous trees and make an excellent border plant. They prefer full sun but will grow in partial shade and they require well drained soil. The natural coloring is as you see here, blue violet with a large white center but some cultivated varieties may be white or pink and white.
